Junior Premier Hockey is committed to providing educational opportunities to all of those who assist in making JPH events happen each year. This is achieved by investing in annual seminars run in conjunction with the Big Apple International Indoor Tournament or through additional seminars run in conjunction with special events throughout the hockey year.
This year the JPH/BAHF technical officiating seminar follows the lead of the FIH Academy and turns the spotlight back on our participants. FIH, BAHF, and JPH recognize that sharing knowledge and experience is an invaluable way to enhance an individual’s own understanding of material as well as those they train.
In this spirit, 2018 brings us “Voices from the Field” as top officials from around the USA and Pan America share their experiences with one another.
The aim of this training is to be informative, interactive & fun. It is to help the umpires and umpire managers learn from different approaches and ideas, bring consistency to their communication and on field decision making, provide basic concepts of how to improve their mental focus, coping strategies and to help them overall prepare for the 2018 indoor season and future experiences.
Technical Officials Seminar in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on the Friday before the Big Apple International Indoor Tournament with focus on the roles and responsibilities of all the officials that make a JPH or FIH event successful. Special emphasis will be placed on the responsibilities of the Technical Officer and the Judge. Speakers will include the JPH Directors, plus a special appearance from Cammie Burke, FIH Technical Official from Barbados.
Tournament Directors Seminar at Old Dominion University the weekend of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships with focus on the responsibilities of the Tournament Director. Speakers will include the JPH Directors, plus a special appearance from two-time Olympic FIH Umpire, Amy Baxter, as she shares her 2016 Rio Olympics experience and talks about the support an umpire is looking for from a technical official.
