ROCL Ready to Begin: 01 Apr 2013

After much success with our premier indoor league, JPIL, we are now taking the next step and starting the Regional Outdoor Club League (ROCL), also being referred to by some as the Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL).

ROCL runs under the umbrella of JPIL which was created by Nigel Traverso and Rachael Bloemker Milne. Again, we recognize the need for an organized and competitive outdoor league whereby the youth clubs in the region have the opportunity to compete against each other on a regular basis.

JPIL is very much aware that each region has different problems and conflicts with spring sports, Futures, etc, so we have decided to offer this pilot project to just Region 6 Clubs.

The ROCL will be played during the months of April and May with the championship held on June 9. Clubs will be competing in two divisions, U-16 and U-19.

JPIL have been very fortunate to be granted access by both Rutgers University and Princeton University as host venues for this League.

Games will be held at Rutgers University on April 14 and 28, May 11 and 18 and they will host the U-19 Championship on June 9. Princeton University will host games on April 28, May 5 and 19, as well as, the U-16 Championship on June 9.

This event is open to all youth field hockey clubs in Region 6 (New Jersey).

Participation in the ROCL / JPOL will provide athletes and coaches with a high level of competition on a regular basis that will prepare them and their club for success at both the RCC and NCC, as well as, any and all national and international competitions.

It is our intention to have some of the top Umpires and Managers, as selected by Steve Horgan, USA Field Hockey Director of Umpiring, at this premier event.

“We are thrilled the Regional Outdoor Club League has gone through the process to be an official USA Field Hockey sanctioned event. This league is truly what our sport needs to continue to grow the game in the United States,” said Steve Locke, Executive Director for USA Field Hockey. “High school aged athletes will have the opportunity to better themselves and better the game with excellent competition expected throughout the 8-week long league.”

Should your Club be interested in participating in the ROCL / JPOL in the future or need additional information on this year’s event, please go to our website at www.JPIL.net or contact Rachael Milne RachaelMilne@yahoo.com or Nigel Traverso Bigapplehockey@aol.com.

We invite you to join us at Rutgers University for the start of the ROCL on April 14, starting at 8:00 am.

Good Luck to all Participants and Clubs!
