With the U-16 RCC in progress at a different site over the weekend, the U-19’s were in action yesterday at the Princeton University Field Hockey Complex. Date 3 of the ROCL Region 6 saw yet another shift in the leader board with FC United maintaining a slim one point lead over Jersey Intensity FH, who is the only undefeated Club with two less games played.
However, FC United suffered their first defeat and Rapid Fire Elite secured their first point during all the excitement of yesterday’s play. Total Dutch, who was in second place after Date 2, suffered two close defeats by a one-goal margin dropping them down to 5th place. Impact, with two close victories yesterday, moved up three spots from 6th to 3rd.
Already the intensity level on the fields and the sidelines is increasing as teams improvement in play can be seen in the results. All of the results from yesterday games were either a draw or a one-goal margin of victory, except for one game. This is a testament to the improving level of play by all clubs as we look forward to a lot of excitement in the coming weeks, watch the leader boards to see which of the ten clubs will make it to the Championship and be awarded the Championship Challenge Trophy.
Date 4 of competition is next weekend, Saturday May 11, to be held at Rutgers University at Bauer Track and Field / Field Hockey Complex on the Astroturf. All games will be in the U-16 Division.
U-19 competition will resume on the weekend of May 18.
On behalf of the organizers of the ROCL and all the participants, we want to congratulate the clubs who will be representing Region 6 at the National Club Championship in July. The qualifying clubs are:
U-16: South Jersey Edge and Jersey Intensity FH
U-19: Spirit of USA and Jersey Intensity FH
Good Luck to all and we know you will represent this Region well!
