JPOL Event Format

Junior Premier Hockey (JPH) hosts several outdoor leagues or tournaments for most USA FH regions throughout the spring season to provide a standardized competition structure for you and your athletes. These events are under the umbrella of JPOL (Junior Premier Outdoor League) and take place in Region 1-4 (Northeast/New York), Region 5 (Pennsylvania), Region 6 (New Jersey), Region 7 (Chesapeake) and Region 8 (South). Outlined below is the general format of all JPOL events and then format details that are specific to each Region.

All JPOL events are USA FH sanctioned
All USA FH member clubs are invited to participate
All matches are full field 11 v 11
All matches are 50-min @ 2 periods of 25-min (except JPOL Elite, details below)
All matches are played on field turf or astro turf
All clubs, participants & coaches must be USA FH members in good standing for the duration of their event
Registration is limited to one (1) team per club, per age division; exceptions considered upon request
Players may play up two (2) age divisions
Players may play for more than one age division on any day/weekend provided they are listed on each age division’s Team Roster
Team Roster verification required prior to the start of the season
Team Rosters remain fixed for the entire course of the season with additions permitted during specified Registration Periods
Girls only, JPH U14 Boys Policy >>
College players are not eligible to participate
All clubs will be scheduled and expected to play on each of the listed competition dates

U19 age division
Maximum participation of eight (8) clubs from Regions 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Four (4) Saturday or Sunday competition dates running from first weekend in April through second weekend in June
Venues rotate between PA, NJ, MD, DE based on facility availability
Round-robin with final ranking knock-out Championship
8 matches guaranteed based on maximum participation
Rules – FIH modified for NCAA DI
All matches are 60-min @ 4 quarters of 15-min with clock stoppage
All matches are played on water based astro turf
Club affiliation required
2021 – Due to COVID-19 this event is ONLY open to Clubs in Region 5
U14 age division
Maximum participation of 10 clubs
If more than 10 clubs enter, acceptance determined on criteria established by organizing committee
Five (5) Saturday or Sunday competition dates running from first weekend in April through second weekend in June
Venues rotate between PA, NJ, MD, DE when available (2021 hosted in PA only)
Round-robin with final ranking knock-out Championship
10 matches guaranteed based on maximum participation
Club affiliation required

U16 & U19 age divisions
Maximum participation of eight (8) clubs per age division
Registration is first come, first serve
Saturday/Sunday tournament weekend format within the first weekend in April through second weekend in June
Separate event registration per weekend
Venues vary by year within the NE/NY region based on facility availability
Round-robin with final ranking knock-out Championship
4 match minimum guaranteed per tournament weekend
Club affiliation not required
Girls only
U16 & U19 age divisions
Maximum participation of eight clubs per age division per region (R5 U16 maximum clubs is ten)
If more than maximum clubs enter, acceptance determined on criteria established by organizing committee
Six (6) Saturday or Sunday competition dates running from first weekend in April through second weekend in June
Venues are located within each specific region – R5 in PA, R6 in NJ, R7 in MD/DE
Round-robin with final ranking knock-out Championship
12 matches guaranteed based on maximum participation

U14, U16 & U19 age divisions
Three (3) Saturday/Sunday competition weekends running from first weekend in April through second weekend in June
Separate event registration per weekend
If more than maximum clubs enter, acceptance determined on criteria established by organizing committee
When registering for the ‘Full Season’, ie 3 weekends, clubs must register for three separate events. Prorated costs for registering for the full season will be applied when event registration closes
U14 Division is not offered at Queens University due to lack of field availability
Venues rotate between VA & NC
4 match minimum guaranteed per tournament weekend
