After much success with our 2013 Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL) in Region 6, many clubs approached us requesting to start this same concept in their regions.

The Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL) runs under the umbrella of Junior Premier Hockey (JPH) that was created by Nigel Traverso and Rachael Bloemker Milne in 2011. JPH aims to provide a well-organized, competitive outdoor league, whereby the top youth clubs in each region have the opportunity to compete against each other on a regular basis.

JPH is very much aware that each region has different scheduling problems and conflicts with Spring sports, Futures, etc. After reviewing the situation in various regions, we have decided to expand in 2014.

At this time, we are pleased to announce that the 2014 JPOL will be played in Region 5, Region 6 and Region 7. After much success in New Jersey in 2013, this 2014 Region 6 JPOL has been selected as the region’s RCC, the process by which the region will select its representative(s) for the National Club Championships.

This league will be played during the months of April and May with the Championships held on the weekend of June 7 & 8. Clubs will be competing in two divisions, U-16 and U-19.

The JPOL is a USA Field Hockey Sanctioned Event!

The kick-off for Region 5 was April 6. Region 6 starts on April 26 and Region 7 on May 10.

Participation in the JPOL will provide athletes and coaches with a high level of competition on a regular basis that will prepare them and their club for success at both the RCC and NCC, as well as, any and all national and international competitions.

It is our intention to have some of the top umpires and managers, selected by USA Field Hockey’s Director of Umpiring Steve Horgan at these premier events.

“We are thrilled the Regional Outdoor Club League has gone through the process to be an official USA Field Hockey sanctioned event,” said Steve Locke, Executive Director for USA Field Hockey. “This league is truly what our sport needs to continue to grow the game in the United States. High school aged athletes will have the opportunity to better themselves and better the game with excellent competition expected throughout the league.”

Should your club be interested in participating in the JPOL in the future or need additional information about this year’s events, please go to our website at or contact Rachael Milne or Nigel Traverso

We invite you to join us and hope to see you at one or many of the regions.

Good Luck to all participants and clubs!
