In 2010, the PanAmerican Hockey Federation approved the biannual Junior Pan Am Indoor Cup to start in 2013. Subsequently, USA Field Hockey formed the Junior National Indoor Team that is currently in training for the Pan Am IndoorCup.

The Junior Premier Indoor League (JPIL) was created by Nigel Traverso and Rachael Bloemker who recognize the need for a well organized and competitive indoor league, whereby the top indoor clubs have the opportunity to compete against each other on a regular basis over the course of the indoor season. Clubs were identified based on their performance at the 2011 U-19 National Indoor Tournament (NIT) and invitations were sent out with the hope of securing 12 of the top Indoor Clubs for the inauguration in January 2012.

The following Clubs have accepted the invitation to participate in the 2012 JPIL:

East Coast FH – Hershey, PA
FC United FHC – Daren, CT
GotTaLoveIt Oranje – Millsboro, DE
Hudson Valley FH – Putnam Valley, NY
Impact FHC – North Caldwell, NJ
Jersey Intensity FHC – Monmouth Beach, NJ
Key State FHC – Boiling Springs, PA
Mystx United – Perkesie, PA
Rising Sun FHC – Colora, MD
South Jersey Edge FHC – Erial, NJ
Spark FHC – Severna Park, MD
Xcalibur FHC – Wilmington, DE

With all of the Indoor Hockey events, including NIT Qualifiers being held each weekend, the biggest challenge has been securing a facility to host this premier event. With the help and cooperation of Xcalibur FHC, 422 Sportsplex in Pottstown, PA will serve as the host site for the 2012 event. The facility has two sport court surfaces of international regulation size.

12 Clubs, 78 Games, 5 dates, 1 Champion!

The games will be held on:

Saturday, January 7
Saturday, January 21
Saturday, February 4
Monday, February 20 (President’s Day)
Saturday, February 25

The JPIL will provide participants with a high level of competition on a regular basis that will prepare them for NIT qualifiers and the NIT Championship. “USA Field Hockey wishes the Junior Premier Indoor League much success in their inaugural year. It is always exciting to see new leagues emerge that will give athletes greater opportunities to play the sport and develop their skills,” said Steve Locke, Executive Director, USA Field Hockey.
