JPIL Date 3: 06 Feb 2012

At the conclusion of round three and with fifty two (52) games played, we witnessed over four hundred and fifty (450) goals of which one hundred and one (101) were from Penalty Corners and eighteen (18) from Penalty Strokes. We are getting ready for an exciting finish to Pool play on February 20th, to see which Club will be ranked #1 and which will be rank # 12 going into the Championship weekend on February 25th.

With nine games played by both Xcalibur FHC and Hudson Valley FH, only three points separates them at twenty five and twenty two points respectively, with two pool games remaining. In the number three spot is Jersey Intensity FHC that played one less game with twenty one points. However, Jersey Intensity FHC still has to play both Xcalibur FHC and Hudson Valley FH on February 20th.  At the end of play on February 20th one of these three Clubs will be ranked # 1 and receive the highest seeding going into the Championship on February 25th.

Although Rising Sun FHC has not won a game, the Club that will be sitting in the cellar (12th) is still not known. There are still five Clubs that will be fighting to stay out of that position when the final pool matches are played on February 20th.

Not only do we have a race to see which Club will be seeded 1st and which will be seeded 12th, we also have a hotly contested battle to see who will be awarded the Princess Most Goals Award.

Five players from four different Clubs are leading that charge, with Gabrielle Major of Xcalibur FHC with 24 goals followed closely behind by Shannon Scavelli of Hudson Valley FH with 23 goals. Heather Morris from Xcalibur FHC, Krysta Wangerin of Impact FHC and Marissa Balleza of Sparks FHC has 20, 19 and 17 goals respectively. Four of these top five goal scorers are also part of the USA National Indoor program.

So what an exciting finish we are expecting on the last day of Pool play on February 20th as the Clubs compete for the highest seeding possible. The top four ranked clubs will compete for the Championship while the other Clubs will play for ranking positions 5th thru 12th.

Final Ranking is very important because it could deciding factor in the club receiving an invitation to return next year and compete in the 2013 Junior Premier League or not.

So come on down and show your support for the league and your favorite Club on the last day of Pool play on February 20th and then again on the Championship weekend, February 25th, where the 2012 winner will be presented with the Princess Challenge Trophy.

All of the results can be found on the USFHA web site www.usafieldhockey.com.

We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks!
