At the conclusion of round three and with twenty three (23) U-19 and twenty two (22) U-16 pool games left to be played, we have witnessed over six hundred and seventy goals. Six hundred and seventy two to be exact with only thirty (30) separating the U-19’s from the U-16’s. The U-19 scored three hundred and fifty two compared to the U-16 who scored a total of three hundred and twenty two.
The Leading Goals Scorers in the U-16 Division are Erin Shanahan of The Gaels FHC with sixteen field goals and four penalty corners for a total of twenty points. She is followed by Corey Mayer of Mystx United with seventeen points and Nikki Santore of Spirit of USA with thirteen.
National Under 21 Player Tara Vittese of Spirit of USA, tops the score table in the U-19 Division with ten field goals and eight penalty corners for a total of nineteen points. She is trailed by Marissa Balleza of Spark with sixteen and Alyssa Chillano of Xcalibur with fifteen points.
Jersey Intensity FH and Xcalibur FHC the two finalist from last year U-19 Division, tops the leader board by going undefeated in their first six games for a total of eighteen points. They are followed closely by Spark with fifteen points. The Leader Board is very misleading as seven of the twelve clubs are still in the running for those top four spots to play for the Championship.
On top the Leader board in the U-16 division with the same number of points is Xcalibur FHC and The Gaels FHC with eighteen. However, Xcalibur has three games in hand. Nine of the twelve Clubs are still in contention for the top four spots vying to compete for the Championship trophy. So it is promising to be an excited conclusion to pool play the next two dates (February 2 & 18) as we look to see who will be ranked in the top four and compete for the Championship on February 23.
Not only do we have a race to see which Club will be seeded 1st and which will be seeded 12th, we also have a hotly contested battle to see who will be awarded the Princess Most Goals Award in both divisions.
So what an exciting finish we are expecting on the last two days of pool play on February 2nd and 18th as the Clubs compete for the highest seeding possible. The top four ranked clubs will compete for the Championship while the other Clubs will play for ranking positions 5th thru 12th.
Final Ranking is very important because it could be the deciding factor in a club receiving an invitation to return next year and compete in the 2014 Junior Premier Indoor League or not.
As we move from the Sportsplex in Feasterville to the Sportsplex in Pottstown, come on down and show your support for the league and your favorite Club on the last two days of Pool play on and then again on the Championship weekend, February 23rd when the 2013 winners will be presented with the Princess Challenge Trophies in both divisions.
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks!
