Colorado Springs, Colo.— USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the Junior Premier Indoor League, created and run by Nigel Traverso and Rachael Bloemker, will serve as USA Field Hockey’s first-ever sanctioned event. USA Field Hockey recently launched an event sanctioning program to enhance local events put on by member clubs around the country.

The Junior Premier Indoor League kicks off on December 28 for the second consecutive year. The league features 12 club teams in the U-16 and U-19 division, respectively, who will compete over five weekends at the Sportsplex in Feasterville, Pa and the 422 Sportsplex in Pottstown, Pa for bragging rights of the Junior Premier Indoor League Champion.

Clubs were identified and invited to participate in the league based on performance at the 2012 National Indoor Tournament (NIT), the 2012 Junior Premier Indoor League and as a host of the tournament.

Participation in the Junior Premier Indoor League provides athletes and coaches with a high level of competition while preparing them for success at two upcoming USA Field Hockey events, the National Indoor Qualifiers and the National Indoor Championship.

“It is fantastic to hear that the Junior Premier Indoor League will be increasing in size in 2013 and is USA Field Hockey’s first-ever sanctioned event,” said Steve Locke, USA Field Hockey Executive Director. “We appreciate Nigel and Rachael’s efforts in running a tournament that provides further playing opportunities for young athletes to grow and develop their skills. On behalf of USA Field Hockey, I wish the Junior Premier Indoor League and the participating teams the best of luck this season.”

Member clubs receive a valuable and money-saving insurance protection package when sanctioning an event with USA Field Hockey. In addition, member clubs are welcome to utilize USA Field Hockey’s online roster verification system. The system automatically verifies memberships of coaches and athletes, saving event directors and club coaches time and allowing for a seamless check-in process. Participating clubs in specific sanctioned events will also benefit by gaining ranking points depending on their finish.
